A long time supporter of the Institutes, Price is the sixth trustee in Gladstone's 37-year history
San Francisco, CA , September 6, 2016 (Newswire.com) - It is a historic time at the Gladstone Institutes. William S. “Bill” Price, III, has joined the Gladstone Trustees. Price replaces Albert A. Dorman, who served Gladstone for almost 30 years.
Although new as a Trustee, Price has been involved with Gladstone for many years, beginning in 2004 as a member of the Gladstone Advisory Council.
“Gladstone is an extraordinary research organization with a stellar record of scientific achievements,” said Price. “I look forward to these new responsibilities and the opportunity to contribute to Gladstone’s mission of overcoming major unsolved diseases.”
Price is a co-founder and partner emeritus of TPG Capital, LP (formerly Texas Pacific Group), a private equity fund founded in 1992 with over $30 billion in assets under management. He is now deeply involved in the wine industry as the proprietor of Price Family Vineyards & Estates, a collection of wineries along the Sonoma Coast.
Price is an active philanthropist with several organizations. He has served as board chair of the Gladstone Foundation since its inception in 2011. He is also chair of Common Sense Media, a nonprofit organization that works with families, educators, policy makers, and business leaders to help children thrive in a world of media and technology.
“Bill has had a very successful and exciting career,” said Gladstone Trustee Richard D. Jones. “His sound judgment, extensive experience, and great enthusiasm make him a wonderful addition to Gladstone.”
Trustee Andrew S. Garb added, “Bill has been a great leader over the years. His dedication has helped us pursue new avenues and achieve new heights. We are fortunate to have Bill in this new role, where he can have an even deeper impact.”
Designated as a three-person team by J. David Gladstone’s trust, the Trustees strategically guide Gladstone to ensure financial strength, foster and enrich innovation, talent, and entrepreneurship. The last time Gladstone had a new trustee was in 2004 when Garb joined the team.
“Since the founding of Gladstone, the Trustees have guided Gladstone into the thriving organization that it is today,” said Gladstone President R. Sanders “Sandy” Williams, MD. “Bill’s contributions will undoubtedly continue that growth and prominence in the years ahead.
